Geneva High SchoolRobovikes 3067
Our dedicated students explore the realms of robotics and STEM education, designing cutting-edge robots for thrilling competitions.

As proud members of the Robovikes, a dynamic and student-led high school robotics team, we’re all about diving headfirst into the exciting world of robotics and innovation. Our playground? The FIRST Robotics competitions – where our drive to achieve our goals and passion for all things STEM truly shine.
Through ingenious engineering, we transform raw materials into machines, solving complex challenges with innovation as our compass. Our coding endeavors are like composing symphonies for robots, as we breathe life into metal and circuits, creating intricate dances of movement and intelligence. Beyond the realm of technology, our business and marketing prowess elevate us as not just tech enthusiasts, but strategic thinkers. With each project, we navigate the dynamic landscape of project management, fundraising, and promotion, mastering skills that extend far beyond the confines of our robot arena.
Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.

When you enroll at Geneva High School, consider becoming a part of our team! For additional details, don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Matheny, our dedicated team sponsor and mentor. During the off-season, we meet once a week, and when our season ramps up (from January to April), we meet multiple times each week. It’s during these sessions that we engage in the exciting process of designing, programing, building, and testing our robot, all in preparation for the thrilling 2-3 competitions we participate in annually.
Every year, we embark on the exciting journey of constructing a brand-new robot for every years unique challenge. To make the most of our limited funding, we carefully disassemble and salvage numerous components from the previous year’s robot. This sustainable approach allows us to retain each year’s robot for demonstrations in the following year while we tirelessly work on crafting our latest creation. Furthermore, we maintain a stockpile of spare parts to ensure we’re well-prepared in the event of occasional breakdowns, a common occurrence in the heat of competition. Lastly, as technology continues to advance, we continually adapt by integrating new types of components to keep our robots on the cutting edge.
